CALL FOR ENTRIES: How to Submit: Submission Rules: THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

Despite the victories of LGBT Americans, many continue to stereotype this unique subculture. Now is the time to debunk these stereotypes and show Metro Detroit the talents of the LGBT community, through art and design. Welcome to the 3rd Annual ‘Beyond the Bar’, Detroit’s LGBT art and design showcase.

We are asking Metro Detroit’s LGBT designers, illustrators and artists to share with us their favorite pieces. Whether it be a website, logo,

photograph, painting or sculpture – take this opportunity to show the local area your contribution to the art and design fields.

Chosen pieces will be showcased at an opening reception on June 6th kicking off Motor City Pride, 2013. A selection from the show will also remain on display for the duration of Motor City Pride.

Email a PDF/JPEG (lastName_FirstName.PDF/JPEG) and/or link of your chosen design/art piece to BTB2013@detroit.AIGA.org, by May 10th, 2013. You must include your full name, email address and phone number within the email submission. After each piece is reviewed, chosen designers will be contacted with installation steps, no later than May 15th, 2013.

Submissions will be reviewed by a committee consisting of artists and design professionals and reviewed based on concept/subject, impact, process and aesthetics.

A submitted work does not guarantee entry into the show. Judges and a committee of design professionals reserve the right to disqualify any entries that do not reflect the intention of the showcase.

If you have any submission question please email show curator Alex Harvilla (BTB2013@detroit.aiga.org) or post a question on the Facebook event page.
